On March 17, 2019, OKOndt Group™ team made yet another business visit to the USA. Initially, the trip had been planned for 10 days and included several tasks, first of which was to teach American partners how to work with the equipment they purchased. The second part was holding a presentation for potential customers featuring the advantages and capacities of OKOndt Group™’s ultrasonic rails testing equipment to them.
OKOndt Group™ and NOMO Group Inc (official distributor of OKOndt Group™) had jointly organized a meeting with theAMERICAN RAILWAYS company from the suburbs of Cleveland (Ohio) at one of the local scientific and research enterprises.
The meeting was opened by the USR-01 kit presentation. The device is designed for the rails welded joints testing by the “Tandem” method. Presentation included a practical part where a testing process had been conducted on special rails specimens with flawed welds. After that, they conducted a briefing during which applications of the USR-01 equipment in the railway were discussed.
НThe next stage was a training provided for the engineers of the metallurgical company AK Steel Corporation during which they learned how to operate the UDS2-77 CR ultrasonic single-rail flaw detector that in turn can be used for the regular rails testing (100-lb. A.R.E.A. Rail, 115-lb. A.R.E.A. Rail) and for the crane rail either (104-lb CRANE RAIL,175–lb. CRANE RAIL). The experts of OKOndt Group™ had prepared a training course which included materials on how to check the rail tracks condition and discussion on how to get the most efficient inspection results.
Upon completion of the studies, on March 23, OKOndt Group™ went to Pembroke Pines, Miami suburbs, where the office of NOMO Group Inc is situated, in order to provide a large-scale seminar and demonstration of the UDS2-77 mechanized trolley and to discuss the eddy current rail inspection equipment ETS2-77. The representatives of railroad companies from the USA, Latin America and Canada attended the seminar. At the final part of the seminar everyone could test the real rails for defects by themselves with the UDS2-77 ultrasonic flaw detector. These experimental rails were provided by the Gonzales and Sons Equipment, Inc.
The trip to the US turned very busy, intense and fruitful – we’ve got the requests for equipment and trainings, so OKOndt Group™ together with NOMO Group Inc started organizing those events that have been planned for the Fall of 2019.
